Overview

The original Neo Geo is a video game console made in two variants:

• Neo Geo AES (Advanced Entertainment System) is a home console.
• Neo Geo MVS (Multi Video System) is a arcade machine.

Most games for Neo Geo are compatible with both hardware versions.

MAME Emulation

Emulating Neo Geo AES (Home Console system) using MAME

• Download the custom Neo Geo BIOS called 'The Universe BIOS'.
• Unzip uni-bios.rom.
• Rename it to uni-bios_2_3.rom.
• Put it into neogeo.zip.

Now, you can run MAME using:

mame -bios uni-bios_2_3 somegame

When the splash screen on the right appears, press A+B+C. Then select Region=U.S.A. and Mode=CONSOLE.

If you don't want to type -bios uni-bios_2_3 every time, you can put it into your mame.ini:
